60th Anniversary
Hello!
To those reading this that do not know me, let me introduce myself.
My name is Clarice Garrison, and I am the 59 year old single woman who has the
singular blessing of being the only daughter of Clarence and June Garrison, who
will be having their 60th wedding Anniversary on April 26th, 2008. They were
married on April 26th, 1948, by a justice of the peace in Brownwood, Texas.
Neither had a family member to witness the ceremony, and at the time, neither
had made a profession of faith.
Sixty years later these dear people are loved for their constancy, integrity,
and love of others who have been a blessing in so many lives (perhaps even yours)
that their testimony is sure to last through eternity.
At this time, I wish to extend my thanks to the Belmont Baptist Church members;
Robert Graven, our pastor; Jack Riddlehoover, our former pastor; Marsha Langford,
our church secretary; and Jason Holder, computer expert extraordinaire, for allowing
me to write essentially an "anniversary letter" without the hassles of printing and
stuffing envelopers. Jason even told me this week that it was "no problem" to include
my parent's picture from the February Valentine banquet. I'm sure that it's turned
out so pretty!
My very first request before details is the essential matter of prayer. Without your
prayers, for the health of all participants, for those who will be traveling, for those
who will be preparing food, flowers, and decorations, and for those giving the Sunday
morning services, this event will be bereft, for without our heavenly Father's blessing,
no earthly endeavor should ever begin.
Considering the times, such a phenomenal achievement deserves a wonderful party.
This one will extend over the week-end. Some of you might be traveling to our city and
I invite you to check out the web site
http://abilenetx.usl.myareaguide.com/ for
information concerning hotels and local attractions.
My parents are in good health and attend church faithfully. That's why I asked
Bro. Robert to coordinate the morning worship services with our former pastor
Bro. Jack Riddlehoover to be given on Sunday, April 27th, that will be dedicated to
the celebration of this wonderful marriage and to the glory of God.
After the services, there will be a pot luck luncheon with chicken, a cake and maybe
even a few balloons. For those with plans to worship at another Abilene location,
rest assured that there might be some cake and punch left if you wish to visit
until 4:00 pm.
On Saturday, Aprils 26th, there is to be a luncheon for close friends and family at
Little Italy, 1417 S Danville Drive, (325) 692 - 8117, at 1 pm. For those few chosen,
please RSVP to the church if you will not be able to attend.
Now, I must emphasize, please, please no gifts! Our house is small and stuffed,
there is no more room at the inn. There is, however, always room for a card.
Such is always welcomed.
However, after almost six decades of living, and having been a nurse for four of those,
some will insist. My first suggestion is a donation to your favorite charity in my
parent's honor. My second suggestion will be available at the Sunday afternoon
reception involving jars and labels such as "retirement fund", "shopping spree",
and "vacation money". You may take your pick at that time if you wish.
Honestly, though, the pleasure of your presence and your signature on the registry
book will be more than sufficient.
The "3" Garrisons are blessed daily beyond measure and count our family and friends
as the treasures on earth that we plan to take to heaven. God bless you every one,
and if you are not there, do not think that we will forget you. Each of you will be
in our hearts and prayers forever!!
